Square Tube

Square Tube

Stainless steel square tubes are structural and decorative hollow profiles produced from corrosion-resistant stainless steel grades such as 304, 304L, 316, and 316L. Their uniform geometry, smooth corners, and aesthetic surface make them widely used in architectural frameworks, furniture, machinery, and general fabrication.

Manufactured primarily as welded tubes (ERW or TIG), stainless square tubing conforms to ASTM A554, ASTM A312, and EN 10296-2 standards. The manufacturing process ensures tight dimensional tolerances, straight edges, and consistent wall thickness, making square sections easy to align, weld, and integrate into assemblies.

Standard size ranges cover 10 × 10 mm up to 250 × 250 mm, with wall thicknesses between 0.8 mm and 8 mm, and lengths of 6 meters as standard. Tubes can be cut to required sizes or processed with mitred ends for structural joints.

Different surface finishes serve specific applications:

  • Mill Finish: Supplied as-welded for structural or fabrication use.
  • Satin / Brushed Finish (180–320 grit): Matte surface for visible architectural or interior applications.
  • Mirror Finish (600+ grit): Reflective, high-polish surface used in furniture, display systems, and sanitary projects.

Each polished tube is individually wrapped or film-protected to maintain surface quality during storage and transportation.

Grade 304 / 304L is the standard option for most architectural and indoor use due to its excellent balance of corrosion resistance and workability. Grade 316 / 316L, containing molybdenum, offers higher resistance to chlorides and chemicals, making it suitable for outdoor, coastal, and food-processing environments.

Stainless square tubes are easy to fabricate — they can be cut, bent, or welded without losing corrosion resistance when proper cleaning and passivation are applied. The consistent profile makes them ideal for frameworks, supports, machine guards, balustrades, furniture structures, and shop fittings.

Typical applications include:

  • Handrails, balustrades, and architectural frames
  • Industrial machinery and equipment enclosures
  • Furniture and interior frameworks
  • Structural supports and bracing systems
  • Food and beverage equipment and clean-room fixtures

Complying with global standards such as ASTM A554 / EN 10296-2, these tubes guarantee predictable strength, excellent surface integrity, and long-term performance. They are a preferred solution where appearance, hygiene, and durability are all essential.

In summary, stainless steel square tubing provides the same corrosion-resistant qualities as round tubing but with added rigidity and clean, geometric aesthetics. Available in a variety of finishes, grades, and wall thicknesses, it remains a core material for architectural, industrial, and fabrication projects across Canada and worldwide.
